Yes. The map, stays, counters, friends and every safety feature cost nothing. A few extras will be paid later, or yours for a while when you bring friends along. Safety and privacy are never behind a paywall.
No. The counters are guidance worked out from the dates you enter, so they are only as good as those dates. Rules change and depend on your nationality and situation. Check the official sources before you cross a border.
Only the people you choose. Each stay has one of four sharing levels: only me, close friends, people you have met, or everyone. By default a past or current stay is visible to people you have met, a future stay to close friends, and your notes, places and photos to you alone. Friends see the city and the month, never your address or your exact dates.
